Beyond The Threshold

Welcome to Beyond The Threshold.

I like to think of this as fiction for the restless. The restlessly creative mind is a little capricious; a little impetuous; a little bizarre. Above all else, it is fun. Beyond the Threshold will offer regular doses of speculative flash fiction (1000 words or less), designed to satisfy those who crave the short, the sweet, and the strange. In the same vein of brevity, flash book reviews of speculative fiction will also abound.

Please feel free to leave your comments, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

About the Author

My name is Shyla Fairfax-Owen. I hold a Master’s Degree in Film Studies, for which I specialized in Horror (within the frameworks of Gender and Society). I am highly influenced by everything I come in contact with: movies, books, graphic novels, and real life events and experiences. This site was born out of a desire to further explore the art and process of creating characters, settings, and whole worlds. This is a space of creative outlet.

About You

You are also a writer. You get swept away by your own imagination and would love to share it. If you are interested in writing a guest post for this site, please contact me at shyla.fairfax@yahoo.com. In keeping with my theme, posts should be speculative fiction/poems under 1000 words.

LOVE your stories, they got my heart racing! My boyfriend and I normally listen to scary stories at night, but these are so awesome I’m going to read one tonight when he comes home. You should totally record these and put them up on YouTube or Soundcloud :D! Love em’

  3. Thanks for visiting my blog. I’m sure I’m staying strange, but my idea of horror is listening to a Donald Trump speech, and realizing that people might be taking him seriously as a candidate for President. Yikes!

like yours. It’s lovely value sufficient for me. Personally, if all website owners and bloggers made
excellent content material as you did, the web will be a lot more helpful
    than ever before.
